OUR MATERIALS

In contemporary fashion, the pursuit of aesthetics must not come at the expense of environmental responsibility and sustainability. The materials used to make accessories determine not only their appearance but also the environmental and ethical impact of our choices.

Awareness of the materials used in fashion accessories goes beyond simple environmental concern. It encourages us to question industry standards, promote ethical manufacturing practices, and support brands that place quality and responsibility at the heart of their creative approach. In short, consciously choosing sustainable materials for fashion accessories is a small but meaningful contribution to building a more responsible fashion industry that respects our planet.

OUR MATERIALS

* Our jewelry is handmade to order using quality materials. All our jewelry is made of stainless steel and plated with fine gold. *

Stainless steel

Stainless steel is a metal alloy known for its remarkable strength and, as its name suggests, its resistance to corrosion and rust. It is composed mainly of iron, with a significant proportion of chromium. It is this chromium that gives stainless steel its anticorrosive properties. Other elements, such as carbon, nickel, molybdenum, or titanium, can also be added to the alloy to improve its characteristics.

The main advantages of stainless steel for jewelry

Durability: Thanks to its resistance to corrosion and scratches, stainless steel jewelry has a long lifespan. Unlike other metals that can oxidize or tarnish over time, stainless steel retains its shine, even after years of use. Furthermore, it withstands the rigors of everyday life, making it an ideal choice for jewelry worn regularly.

Hypoallergenic material: For those with sensitive skin or who are allergic to certain metals, stainless steel is an excellent option, allowing everyone to wear their favorite jewelry without worry.

Affordable price: Compared to other traditional jewelry materials such as gold or silver, stainless steel is significantly more affordable. This price difference does not come at the expense of quality. Its affordability makes it accessible to more people, allowing everyone to treat themselves to jewelry that is both beautiful and durable.

Plated with fine gold

A piece of jewelry plated with fine gold is coated with a thin layer of gold, but unlike gold plating, the plating layer is less than 3 microns thick.

There are no French regulations on plating thickness. Nevertheless, all our fine gold-plated products have a plating thickness between 0.03 and 1 micron (often called "Flash").
To acquire the fine gold-plated designation, the plating must be made with 24-karat gold.

As you may have guessed,  24K fine gold-plated jewelry contains less gold and will therefore be more susceptible to wear. But it is also the smaller thickness of gold that makes its price attractive.

Brass

Brass, also known as yellow copper, is a golden-colored alloy that was invented in prehistoric times. Today, it is used in various fields, including the manufacture of musical instruments, decorative objects, and, of course, jewelry and watchmaking.

How to clean your jewelry?

There are several solutions for maintaining your stainless steel jewelry and restoring its shine.

  • White vinegar : Simply rub with a soft cloth and a few drops of alcohol vinegar.
Another solution: soak your jewelry for two hours in a bath of hot water and white vinegar. Rinse with water and dry with paper towels. Please note that this tip is not suitable if your jewelry is adorned with a glued element or a cabochon, as the hot water could dissolve the glue.
  • Baking soda : Make a mixture with hot water and baking soda. Clean your jewelry with this solution, then rinse it several times thoroughly.
  • Marseille soap : You can also use Marseille soap or dish soap. Be sure to rinse thoroughly several times with clean water. Finally, wipe your jewelry with a soft, clean cloth.
  • A lemon : Put a little lemon juice diluted with water on a cloth, then gently rub your jewelry. Then, as always, rinse it with clean water.
  • Toothpaste : Gently rub your jewelry with a toothbrush and a little toothpaste. Don't forget to rinse!

Please note that for gold-plated stainless steel chains and components, avoid acidic cleaners such as vinegar, lemon, or toothpaste. This could damage the finish.
